If you read a couple of blog post earlier, the word I felt for this year is entering the promise land and eating of it's fruit. I feel that Ez 47 is a continuation of that promise expounded. Often it is easy to forget and loose trust in God's word to us. I was reassured through reading Ez 47. It talks about the river that flows from the temple. This alone shows that the source of the river comes from the house of God. Of course during Old Testament times the Lord's house was a physical temple, whereas today it is our hearts. We have to allow God in our hearts!
But along that river is described "a great number of trees on each side of the river". Ezekiel 47:12 says,"Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. Every month they will bear, because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing."
This prophesy in Ezekiel teaches us a few things about the river: 1) It Heals 2) It Revives and 3) It Produces Fruit. Healing if found in verse eight where the salt water is made fresh because of the river. Revival is found in verse nine because we see that where the river flows, everything was transformed. Fruit produced is found in verse twelve because we see that everywhere the river flowed, fruit sprang up. After reading this chapter, I was confident in the promise of God. Doubt had left and His promise is once again giving hope for the future. It's promised every month. My role is to make sure that I stay in the river which flows from God.
