My mission trip to the Alps of Innsbruck, Austria was one of the most amazing places that I have seen. As our team flewn in over the mountains, tears welled up within me. Believe me when I say that I have never had that experience before. Later, I had the opportunity to go up the Alps on cable cars. Once we got out of the cable cars near the top, we started walking and the air was so dense. I had to stop because of difficulty breathing. Sitting on a bench, I prayed to God to please let me make it up so I can experience the beauty of His creation. Once I regained some air, I made it up. Again, tears formed in my eyes. I thought that I must be silly to have such a reaction, then realized the following after insight from one of Jim Laffoon's sermons.Job 38:4-7 ""Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it? On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone- while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?
So while the earth was being created the angels shouted for joy! Joy at the beauty of God's creation... all of it's color, all of it's smells, all of its texture! Joy!
Then Psalms 19 talks about ALL of creation is groaning hoping that it can be redeemed... all! So, my realization of why I had tears is because I felt closer to God! It's the things that God creates... that brings praise to Him. I was surrounded by praises to Him!
